GREAT BAY – Reckwin Moanam Moeslikan thought it was a nice business opportunity that would alleviate his financial troubles when he signed a false statement on his company’s correspondence paper that enabled one of his clients to obtain a bank loan. The statement certified incorrectly that the borrower had a car as a surety for the loan.

The four suspects in the fatal Glenford Brooks stabbing seemed to be on their way to do the right thing when police arrested them at the law offices of Remco Stomp on Monday. The suspects, aged between 18 and 24, were at the lawyer’s office with their parents, discussing details surrounding their surrender.

GREAT BAY – Guyanese Fritzalbert Ewart Benjamin (33) received a one-year prison sentence for inappropriate sexual oriented contacts with an eleven-year old girl between April of last year and May 2008.

GREAT BAY – Martin Patrick Hughes, a 38-year old Rastafarian, received a conditional 1,500-guilder fine for the possession of 255 grams of marijuana and 46 marijuana plants in the Court in first Instance yesterday. The court confiscated the plants and Hughes won’t be getting them back. |

GREAT BAY – J.E.S., a 46-year old Arubean defendant requested that his full name be withheld from the court report, because he had just found a new job. Today honors this request. The Court in First Instance gave S. a suspended ten-month prison sentence for stealing thirteen laptop computers from the WIFOL building on May 6. The defendant will also have to repay the damages, estimated at $9,900 within twenty months. |
